Part I, Mysticism, is a clear introduction to the fundamentals of mysticism and meditation, with special emphasis on Yoga. Each meditative practice and state of consciousness is discussed in clear language that is easily grasped by Western students. It also explores the universal origin of world religions in mystical revelation. Part II, Magick: Elementary Theory, systematically explains the meaning and purpose of the instruments, weapons, furniture and regalia employed in ceremonial magick. Part III, Magick in Theory and Practice, gives 28 theorems that form the practical keys to Magick, and demonstrates their application in daily life by showing how every willed act is an act of Magick. After a comprehensive outline of the Qabalistic, scientific and philosophical foundations of magick, Crowley explores its formulas and the essential procedures of banishing, purification, consecration and invocation. He shows how their right use leads to initiation and the accomplishment of the Great Work. Other chapters deal in depth with the magical memory of past lives, the astral plane, divination, alchemy and other subjects. Part IV, Thelema: The Law (The Equinox of the Gods), gives an autobiographical account of how Crowley came to receive the cornerstone of Thelema, The Book of the Law, and a new appendix discusses its cosmographical, ethical and religious implications. In addition to the text of The Book of the Law and its Comment, this edition features a newly~photographed facsimile of its original manuscript, as well as the first authentic color photography of the Stele of Revealing ever published. The appendices give numerous rituals, Qabalistic reference tables and diagrams, reading lists and other instructional papers to assist the student in beginning practical work in meditation and magick, including the most important preliminary instruction papers of the A:.A: . New appendices provide supplementary rituals and texts. This new edition incorporates Crowley's own additions, corrections and annotations for a planned new edition that has~until now~remained unpublished. It also restores dozens of passages lost in all earlier editions, by returning to the original manuscripts and typescripts. It is extensively cross~referenced, annotated and indexed, and Crowley's sources and authorities are thoroughly documented. The editor's introduction explores the author's spiritual and philosophical development that led to the curious genesis of the work, and documents his 25~year struggle to produce all of its four parts. It also surveys his own critical appraisal of the work.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. First edition. This first edition copy has been signed by Frater Hymenaeus Alpha who wrote the Preface to this edition, the first published collection of the fourteen Holy Books received by Crowley. It could well be called the bible of Thelema. Crowley considered these books to be theophanies--divinely inspired and beyond criticism. They form the kernel of his developmental system, and reveal the essence of his mission to mankind. This collection was prepared by Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.) using painstaking editorial techniques to reproduce the most reliable source for each book. Every effort has been made to adhere to the formal prerequisites for publication. Technical questions were resolved in accordance with Crowley's instructions wherever possible. A comprehensive preface by Frater Hymenaeus Alpha, Caliph of the O.T.O., surveys the sensitive issues concerning the editorial handling of revealed material. Crowley's writings concerning the Holy Books are excerpted, including his diaries for the period. Through these, the chronology of the Holy Books' reception is outlined for the first time. In addition, Crowley's own summary of his magical development up to the reception of the Holy Books is given its first publication, editorially referenced to his widely-available 'Confessions'. A synthetic synopsis provides the reader with a concise introduction to each Holy Book in Crowley's own words, conveniently arranged by title for ease of study. Three appendices have been prepared especially for this edition: An in-depth study of the Stele of Revealing that includes three separate translations of the Egyptian text of this link with antiquity. Also included is the first authentic photograph to be published in the magical literature. A comprehensive list of Thelemic technical writings, arranged by number, class and title, and finally an annotated bibliography of the Holy Books. The traditional "Hello", the #93 is stamped under the half-title page. A near fine clean copy (small bookstore label to bottom of the half-title page) in a near fine clean dust jacket.

Añadir al carritoTaschenbuch. Condición: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The 'Philosophy & Mysticism of Aleister Crowley' collection offers an insightful exploration into the intertwined realms of philosophical inquiry and mystical experience. Assembling a diverse range of essays, poems, and esoteric writings, this anthology captures the variegated essence of Crowley's work alongside the complementary insights of Mary d'Este Sturges. The volume traverses the arcane landscapes of Thelema, employing various literary styles including Crowley's dense but vivid prose, emblematic poetry, and evocative mystical treatises. Collectively, they illuminate the nuances of spiritual and metaphysical tenets, creating a tapestry of arcane wisdom that challenges and enriches traditional philosophical discourse. Both Aleister Crowley and Mary d'Este Sturges contribute significantly to the text, embodying a harmony of voices that call forth vibrant dialogues on the human pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment. Crowley's extensive philosophical and occult legacy resonates through his innovative exploration of ceremonial magic and mystical experiences. Sturges complements Crowley with her own esoteric perspectives, grounding the ethereal discourse with practical insights into the fusion of mysticism and daily existence. Their combined efforts encapsulate a pivotal moment in early 20th-century mystical and philosophical scholarship, reflecting the burgeoning interest in transgressive, non-conventional paths to understanding the self and the universe. For readers seeking a profound expedition into divergent streams of thought, this anthology offers a compelling academic journey. It is an indispensable resource for enthusiasts of philosophical and mystical literature, affording a panorama of insights and stimulating a rich dialogue between its diverse perspectives. Dive into this collection for an unparalleled opportunity to engage with the philosophical and mystical dimensions of Aleister Crowley's ambitious explorations and the enriching contributions that Sturges imparts. The text not only enlightens but also invites readers to ponder their own paths to wisdom and self-discovery.

It comprises a survey of every word in these texts, along with a brief quotation to give the context in which each word is used, and the location in which it appears. On the most basic level the book serves as a convenient reference guide or index to the contents of The Holy Books. Key words and their frequencies of use become apparent, broader usage patterns are revealed, and the identification of particular phraseologies and idioms is simplified. The new paths of exploration that it opens for those with knowledge of the Kabbalah and Gematria are too numerous to list. The 'Concordance' includes an Introduction by the compiler, Colin D.
