Between the years 1630 and 1650, he travelled extensively through Italy, France and Spain, and later used the sketches from these trips for his etchings. At a young age, Falda was sent to Rome where he apprenticed in Bernini's studio, showcasing his remarkable draughtsmanship that soon captured the attention of the esteemed publisher Giovanni Giacomo de Rossi. His notable works include engravings for "Le fontane di Roma" (Fountains in Rome) and "Palazzi di Roma" (Palaces of Rome). The former publication underwent expansion posthumously, featuring additional engravings by Francesco Venturini. Meanwhile, the latter was a collaborative effort with Pietro Ferrerio, published in 1655. Due to his birthplace, Falda was sometimes referred to as 'Falda da Valduggia'.
