Second, revised and first illustrated edition of Lorca's last cycle of poems. It differs substantially from the first edition which was published a few weeks earlier, and is illustrated with Lorca's drawings. The original glassine wrapper is browned, and has a small bump and chip at the foot of the spine. The book is uncut & unread, but unfortunately the lower inner margins are dampstained throughout. In a cloth folder.

Softcover. Condición: Very good. First Spanish language edition. 187pp., illustrated with four plates (by Lorca himself), two in color. Very good in the publisher's white wraps with yapped edges. Some very light foxing to extremities (the contents clean), and minor bumping, rather inevitably, to the bottom edges. Most pages unopened. In the original glassine, which is age-toned, and has some mild tears and small chips to the extremities, most notably at the spine ends. Despite the noted flaws, a well-preserved copy of this fragile book. This is the second edition of the book to appear on the market; the first was bilingual. Lorca had spent nearly two years in New York in 1929 and 1930, where he witnessed firsthand the fallout from the Wall Street crash, along with the Harlem Renaissance and other exciting happenings in the city, which evolved into this accomplished volume. Lorca was murdered by Fascists in Spain in 1936, and the collection was published posthumously.

This is the first Spanish-language edition, published a few weeks after the bilingual edition done in the U.S., and the first illustrated edition, with four original drawings by the author, two of them printed in color. Two owner names and a comment in the prelims; tape shadows to the endpages; upper and lower edge tears at the front joint. A good copy in wrappers, with less of the darkening and chipping that frequently afflicts the wrappers of this title. Unless otherwise noted, our first editions are first printings.
