Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very good-. Third Edition. Second printing. Octavo, 596pp. About very good in the publisher's dark blue cloth, stamped in silver. Inner hinges tender, but holding, and rubbing to extremities, else a nice, celan copy internally. This copy SIGNED on the front paper: "Louise and Hervey Cleckley" (though both names are present, the inscription is in one hand, and it matches other examples of Hervey's exactly). Uncommon signed, this was Cleckley's landmark study of psychopathy and antisocial criminal behavior. Cleckley later co-wrote the screenplay for "The Three Faces of Eve." His body of work, though obviously much improved on by later researchers, is the basis for the modern study of psychopathic criminal behavior.

Signed by Hervey Cleckley on the front free endpaper, inscribed "For Vincent Roberts, With kind regards and all good wishes for success in his explorations of personality function along the rubro-spinal tract, in the Id and the Super-ego." Very Good+ with light shelf wear, a few small stains to the covers; former owner pasted the original dust jacket on the front and rear pastedowns and rear endpaper. Contents toned with scattered foxing. Perhaps the definitive work on psychopathy (often generally referred to today as "sociopathy") from an American psychiatrist whose work influenced everything from the films Psycho and The Three Faces of Eve (co-writing the book the latter was based on) to Hare's Psychopathy Checklist. Documentary filmmaker Erroll Morris has hailed him as "one of the unsung 20th century figures.".
