"Manual de Vida" es el texto más famoso y conocido que lleva su nombre, si bien no fue él quien lo redactó, pues no se dedicó a escribir durante su vida, si no su discípulo Flavio Arriano, que se encomendó a la tarea de recopilar las enseñanzas de su maestro y ponerlas por escrito con el objetivo de que todo el mundo pudiera conocerlas. De los ocho libros originales solamente la mitad han llegado hasta nuestros días, pero son suficientes para entender cómo veía Epicteto la vida y adentrarse en su pensamiento filosófico.

Teólogo dominicano, professou a 7 de Março de 1557, foi doutor em Teologia pela Universidade de Lovaina, Mestre na sua Ordem, Provincial, Prégador de D. Sebastião, Vigario geral de toda a Ordem Dominicana, e Bispo de Viseu, eleito a 4 de Dezembro de 1595.
