Jacket priced at $8.95. A stunning mint copy. Housed in a limited edition wooden tray case lettered D which includes an original artwork by Glenn Chadbourne. Only approximately 12,000 Night Shift first edition copies were printed. The Stand (1978), US first edition, first printing, published by Doubleday. Signed by King on the front free endpaper and dated 11/1/80. 'First Edition' statement on the copyright page and T39 gutter code in the margins of the last page. The dust jacket is correctly priced at USD 12.95. A fine unread copy. Housed in a clamshell case with the dust jacket art on the front. One of 70,000 copies printed. A stunning collection of the first five Stephen King books made even more special by the display in the limited edition cases with original artwork. Doubleday is the publisher which launched Stephen King's long, tremendously successful and prolific career. No other writer has had a greater impact on popular culture than Stephen King with most of his stories having been adapted into TV-series or films. From the 1980s onwards his books typically went into print runs of hundreds of thousands if not millions, but the Doubleday first edition books will always remain highly coveted and valuable due to their scarcity, popularity and quality. If one had to choose a handful of King's books into any collection these five would be the top choice. We have more images upon request. First and Fine. Signed by Author(s).

First edition, first printing of the novel that launched King's career, with 'First Edition' stated on the copyright page and 'P6' in the gutter of page 199. Octavo, original maroon cloth. Presentation copy, boldly inscribed by the author on the second endpaper, "For L. Jack Powell - with best wishes, Stephen King 11/7/80."ÂFine in a fine dust jacket. Jacket design and author photograph by Alex Gotfryd. Housed in a custom half morocco clamshell box. A superior example. Carrie inaugurated Kingâs reign as âthe best-selling American author during the final quarter of the 20th centuryâ (Chronology of American Literature). When King began writing the book, however, he was living in a trailer and working at a laundromat for $60 a week. âTwo unrelated ideas, adolescent cruelty and telekinesis, came together⦠I did three single-spaced pages of a first draft, then crumpled them up in disgust and threw them away⦠[The next night, my wife] Tabby had the pages⦠âYouâve got something here,â she said. âI really think you doâ (King, On Writing, 67-68). Tabitha King was right. âLife in the trailer ended in 1973 when Doubleday bought Carrie for a $2500 advance. Hardcover sales were not spectacular, but the paperback sales-boosted by the [1976] film of the novel-were nearly 4,000,000 copies. âThe movie made the book, and the book made me,â King saysâ (New York Times).

Internally the page blocks and inner text are free of foxing, but has the usual toning associated with New English Library books of this period. Free of any previous owner names or inscriptions. The dust wrapper is also in very good condition with no fading to the spine. There are three closed tears to the front panel, with a single closed tear to the bottom corner of the rear flap. There are tiny losses to the spine tips, with some rubbing to the wrapper's extremities. The publisher's printed price of £ 2.50 is present to the front flap. An exceedingly scarce book to acquire, with most copies purchased for the library system.

Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. 1st Edition. First printing of Stephen King's first book. First Edition stated on copyright page, with P6 code printed in the gutter of p. 199 of the text indicating the true first printing / first state. A great copy with some signs of handling, which I will try to describe thoroughly to prospective buyers. This copy is bright and square copy in maroon cloth that has a few minor spots of rubbing/soil remnants, perhaps as if the book was handled a bit outside of the jacket. The book seems too tight to have been read. The gilt titling to the spine is bright, with a few small rubbed imperfections in "Carrie". Light rubbing to cloth at bottom of boards, but not nearly worn through. Rear paste-down has a small, 5mm defect at the corner, where it is torn but still pasted down. Original, price-clipped dust jacket is bright with some edgewear, crinkling at lower front flap fold, with a piece of scotch tape also having been applied to the inside of a 1cm closed tear at the lower flap fold. Small closed tear to rear lower flap fold, and general edgewear and softening with minor loss to paper at corners. A whitening crease line runs up the front flap fold. Some light apparent sunning to spine and a few other spots and imperfections to the jacket panels, with toning inside it. Presents nicely overall, and now in new mylar dust jacket protector. Book.

First edition of the 40th Anniversary edition of the author's first book. Octavo, original illustrated glossy boards, original slipcase. Although not called for signed by Stephen King on the title page. Signed by Glenn Chadbourne, James Lovegrove and Kim Newman. Fine in a fine dust jacket. The slipcase is in fine condition. Illustrated by Glenn Chadbourne; Introduction by Glenn Chadbourne and the preface by Kim Newman. Uncommon signed. Stephen King has been read by more people than any living author, and more than most dead ones. As Don Heron commented in "The Penguin Encyclopedia of Horror and the Supernatural," King specializes in "contemporary American scenes, everyday parents and kids and teenagers, vulgarly realistic language - a believable setting awaiting the coming of terror." He has become the most popular horror writer of all time. Several adaptations of Carrie have been released, including a 1976 feature film, a 1988 Broadway musical, a 1999 feature film sequel, a 2002 television movie, and a 2013 feature film remake.
