This is a book that will keep your bedside light burning long into the night.' -The GuardianAvailable for the first time as a graphic novel, 'one of the most prophetic dystopian works of the twentieth century' (Wall Street Journal), Aldous Huxley's revered classic, adapted and illustrated by Fred Fordham, the artist behind the graphic novel adaptation of To Kill A Mockingbird. In Aldous Huxley's darkly satiric yet chillingly prescient imagining of a 'utopian' future, humans are genetically bred, socially indoctrinated, and pharmaceutically anesthetized to passively uphold an authoritarian ruling order-all at the cost of their freedom, full humanity, and perhaps also their souls. Originally published in 1932, Brave New World has enthralled and terrified millions of readers for decades and now it has been reborn for a new age.In Brave New World: A Graphic Novel Fred Fordham's aesthetically reimagined adaptation brings Huxley's powerful work to life. Fordham has captured the surreal imagery and otherworldly backdrop of the story through brilliantly rendered illustrations. His singular artistic vision and impeccable attention to detail depicts the work as never before, introducing it to a new generation of readers in a fresh and compelling way.Huxley's enduring classic is a reflection and a warning of the age in which it was written yet remains frighteningly relevant today.

Añadir al carritoFIRST EDITION, a few very faint spots to opening leaves, recurrent at rear, pp. [viii], 308, crown 8vo, original blue cloth, backstrip gilt lettered and a shade faded with a tiny patch of discolouration at centre, top edge blue a little faded, few spots to edges with tail edge roughtrimmed, endpapers faintly spotted, very good. A nice copy of an important book. Huxley's dystopian masterpiece; the first novel to consider human cloning, celebrating a utopian future whilst in truth illustrating the horror it delivers. The author wrote to Orwell suggesting that the future 'Brave New World' portrayed was more likely than that of 'Nineteen Eighty Four', 'an all-powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced because they love their servitude', but he was later to revise this view. Añadir al carritoFIRST EDITION, a few very faint spots to prelims, the odd marginal mark in pencil and the occasional gloss, pp. [viii], 308, crown 8vo, original blue cloth, backstrip gilt lettered and a shade faded, lean to spine, a little rubbed at extremities and with a small spot of discolouration towards foot of lower board, top edge blue now faded with a couple of tiny spots showing, tail edge roughtrimmed with other edges toned, contemporary French ownership inscription to initial blank, original dustjacket, lightly spotted to flaps with sections of loss, those around head removing most of title from front and backstrip panels, good condition. A poor example of a scarce dustjacket - but a nice copy of an important book. Añadir al carritoFirst edition. Octavo. 306 pages. One of the defining novels of the twentieth century, a dystopian vision which distils the fears arising from scientific advance, just as Orwell's 1984 did for those arising from the misuse of progressive political theory.A few small spots to fore-edge. Faint vertical crease to spine. Very good indeed in good dustwrapper with some rubbing to the edges, a 6 cm closed tear and a thumbnail sized chip to the tail of the spine affecting the publishers' names; repairs on the reverse. The fold of the front flap has been clumsily reinforced on the reverse. The colour of the dustwrapper is sharp and bright, making this a suitable candidate for the restorer's art.
