Many reproductions of engravings in b/w and color. A detailed and comprehensive monograph on this important printer's work. The production values of the volume are of the highest, being the product of the Taller Martin Pescador, i.e. Juan Pascoe et al. Bound in cream linen book cloth, publisher's band, included. The print run is listed as 2000 copies. Fine copy, as new.

Illustrated with illustrations taken from the work of 16th century printers in New Spain. Two large folding pages, facsimiles of the work of Espinosa. One is from the Graduale dominicale of 1576, the other from the Graduale sanctoral of 1578. Finely printed letterpress on Tamayo de Ponte paper in black, but with the title and some initials in red also. Bindings by Fermín Urbina. Edition limited to 210 copies. The text by Dctra Grañén Porrúa discusses the first printers of the Americas, starting with Juan Pablo, but concentrating on his successor Antonio de Espinosa, who was also the first type cutter in the Americas. His works are beautifully executed, and his typefaces have recently been made available again as Espinosa Nova. Both of the facsimiles are of Espinosa's work. The 30pp of text are followed by typographic notes from Juan Pascoe, the printer. This is a superb example of printing. In fine, as new condition. .

Other illustrations are an Antonio Espinosa vignette, a woodcut of a kneeling Mexica man, and two printer's ornaments; All are printed from zinc plates; Green shelfback with yellow paper spine label and matching yellow paper on the boards; Author and title printed on front board in a frame of printer's ornaments; 12" x 6.25", plates 16.75" x 12.5; 46 pages.
