I did find a book from an auction which is identical to my book and copied and pasted the Farsi title, clicked on translate, and got to the title Hafez Shiraz narrated by Ahmad Shamlou or Hafez Shiraz According To Ahmad Shamlou. Also the following: 'Hafez Shiraz narrated by Ahmad Shamlou is a narration of Hafez's Divan.' Please take a look at the photos. You can see how thick the book is. It's also fairly heavy so if the buyer is from outside of the United States the shipping will be higher than the quoted price, probably higher than the price of the book, because the weight will exceed the limit for first class shipping and will have to be shipped Priority. The book is in very nice shape. You can see the covers in the photos. They are very clean. The book is solidly bound from cover to cover. There are no binding issues. The covers are nicely tight. The cover edges and corners are in very good shape. The page edges are mostly clean. There are two smallish spots on the bottom page edge, not affecting the actual pages. The pages of the book are very clean. Scrolling through, I didn't find any instances of soiling. There are a lot of pages so it's possible I missed something, but they are very clean nonetheless. I didn't see any conspicuous creasing, no placeholder creases. I saw a few crinkles. There are no markings in the book. No one has written their name or anything else anywhere. There are no attachments, but there are two small, thin strips of residue from what must've been tape on both the front and rear inside cover. On the rear inside cover it looks like someone tried removing the tape and created a superficial scuff. There's also a small scuff off the top edge of the blank front end paper. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. There is a minor bit of soiling on the rear cover. There are small losses off the top edge of the front and spine, and one off the top edge of the rear cover. Finally, as you can see, there is a discoloration off the top edge of the front cover, the residue of a strip of tape which was once covering a tear, and there is one other smallish tear off the top edge of the front and one off the bottom edge of the front as well. For these reasons I've rated the dust jacket only Good. However, as you can see in the photos, it does not present badly. The flaps are clean but have some wear. The front flap has a sharp crease and its top corner, also little bit of wear at its top edge, and a small tear off its middle edge. The rear flap has a small crease at its top corner. The jacket is fitted with a protective cover.

A charming example of provincial Kashmiri book production presented here in an attractive contemporary Indian stamped binding. Hafez Shirazi (1315-1390 AD) is considered one of the greatest Persian poets, whose immensely popular poetry continues to thrive in modern day Iran and far across the international sphere, with many translations of his texts available worldwide. This particular manuscript includes a selection of his poetic material primarily sourced from his Divan and Ghazals, possibly copied by the scribe from memory as the structure of the text doesn't follow the standard canon of Hafez' works.

Illustrated with 7 full-page miniatures. 19th century lacquered boards painted with a delicate floral design on a field of black, heavily decorated with gold. On paper glimmering with gold and illustrated with seven full-page miniatures, this 16th century manuscript is a beautiful example of the Diwan of Hafez: the most popular, most influential, and most important Diwan poetry collection in the Persian language. The exact number of Hafez's poems has been the source of much speculation (cf. Meisami), and the contents of relatively early copies of his Diwan are particularly useful in helping to identify the evolution of his early oeuvre. The scribe, who identifies himself as Ali al-Katib, dates the manuscript to 978 Hijri (1570/71 CE), placing the work within a generation of a famous recension made in 907 in an attempt to standardize the Diwan (cf. Meisami), and is important for understanding the evolution and reception of Hafez in the late medieval and particularly the Safavid period. - Known by his penname as Hafez (or Hafiz), its author has been described as "pretty universally regarded as the greatest of Persian lyric poets" (Davis) and "the most popular of Persian poets" (Yarshater); he flourished in the glittering intellectual milieu of 14th century Shiraz, where he set new standards for the use of poetic forms and particularly revolutionized the use of ghazal verse, which he made his own. - The importance of Hafez's Diwan to Persian literature is difficult to overstate: "If a book of poetry is to be found in a Persian home, it is likely to be the Divan (collected poems) of Hafez. It is a fitting 16th century tribute to a poet who "by common consent [] represents the zenith of Persian lyric poetry.
