This is a story of a boy who learns the tough lesson that sometimes one must do something that he or she disapproves of in the interest of the common good. The boy, Norman, is the son to a Sgt. Major in the U.S. Army stationed in post-World War II Germany. In order to help his German-born friend, Anton, clear his name with the police, Norman agrees to help search for a mysterious bunker that was supposedly abandoned after the war. Not only do the boys find the bunker, but they also find that the warningsthey received to stay away from the bunker should have been heeded.
