Excerpt: Marifil Niña Girado (born November 1, 1980), known by her stage name Nina, is a Filipino Pop/R&B singer, occasional songwriter, record producer, commercial model, TV and radio personality. She signed her first recording contract with Warner Music Philippines in 2000, and released her debut album, Heaven, in 2002. Following the release of her album, she received numerous awards from different organizations and multiple album certifications by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI). She established her position in the Philippine music industry in 2005, when she released her third album Nina Live!. The album was certified 6× Platinum by the PARI in just a few months, and later earned her the first ever Diamond award for a female OPM artist. In the same year, she staged a Nina Live! concert at the Araneta Coliseum, which became her biggest solo concert to date. In 2006, she released her self-titled album, which earned her the most nominations for the Awit Awards. Later, she was criticized for releasing too many covers, and got in a feud with her ex-boyfriend Nyoy Volante's parents for not paying their debts. She regained success in 2009, after performing and touring with the Sessionistas. In 2004, the Philippine Business Excellence Award named her as the No. 1 Female R&B Singer in the Philippines.
