A children's story by the poet, following the adventures of a giant robot who comes to earth mysteriously and is befriended by a small boy. Basis for the marvelous 1999 animated film *The Iron Giant*, the first feature film from writer/director Brad Bird, who went on to great commercial and critical success (and several worthy Oscars) with Disney's *The Incredibles* and *Ratatouille*.
