The deserts of Arabia stretch from Jordan to Yemen:Wadi Rum, the Nefud, Ad-Dahna and Rub al Khali known as the Empty Quarter which borders Yemen and extends to Oman. The author takes us to the heart of this immense region, tracking the ancient incense route and the nomadic Bedouins. More than 200 photographs by Étienne Dehau illustrate the culture of these peoples as they move from camp to camp within a land that is both hostile and overwhelming.
Biografía del autor
Etienne Dehau is a photographer who has spent more than twenty-five years travelling the world. He is particularly passionate about the Middle East, Central Asia and South America, and his images have been published worldwide. Pierre Bonte is a research director at the CNRS and a social anthropologist who has spent thirty years studying nomadic societies.
