After completing his university studies in modern history and political science he spent a year travelling overland from Southeast Asia to Europe. Since then he has worked, lived and travelled in several European countries. He has also travelled in Africa, the Middle East and South America and regularly returns to Asia. After spending several years teaching English and translating and 'the two worst years of my life' studying postgraduate economics at Oxford, a few years ago he and his wife started up a business on the Costa Brava where they now live.
